Tuscarora Framework is now Open Source

Tuscarora is a framework for developing highly scalable and portable Network Patterns (NP) and applications. The Framework serves as the narrow waist of the system, decoupling the Application Layer and the Network Patterns from the underlying radio and hardware platform, enabling portability, scalability and extensibility. Tuscarora was partly funded by DARPA.

About Samraksh

Wireless Sensor Network Expertise We are experts in low-power, reliable wireless sensor networks (WSN) with world-class experience and deep, innovative research into the hardware, software and algorithmic issues they present. We design, manufacture and sell inexpensive high-performance, low-power, scalable and easy-to-program components and systems.

WSN-Enabling Products Besides the eMote .NOW and the BumbleBee highlighted below,  we also provide a range of other sensors and supporting items. Complete network solutions can be deployed using these components.

To write programs on the eMote .NOW you will need several things installed on your Windows machine: Visual Studio to write and debug programs; Micro Framework SDK for runtime libraries and the MFDeploy tool; Serial over USB driver.

eMote Version 4.3.0.14

As of eMote version 4.3.0.14, Visual Studio 2013 and Micro Framework SDK 4.3.2 must be used.

  1. Install Visual Studio. If you don't have Visual Studio 2013 installed, you can get the free Express version from http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/downloads. Download and install it.

  2. Install Micro Framework SDK. Get SDK version 4.3 from https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/4dd0fc66-a0dc-4d9f-8cb4-5a8782c90eee. Download and install it.

eMote Versions earlier than 4.3.0.14

  1. Install Visual Studio. If you don't have Visual Studio 2012 installed, you can get the free Express version from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34673. Download and install it.

  2. Install Micro Framework SDK. Get SDK version 4.3 from http://netmf.codeplex.com/releases/view/81000.

All eMote Versions

Install the Serial over USB driver. Connect a standard Micro-B USB cable to the connector (located on the upper left of the .NOW board) to your PC. See the picture below. Typically, Windows will be able to download the necessary driver and install it. If there are problems with the driver installation, you can get it from http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx. The driver should now appear under Ports in Window’s Device Manager (which you can access from Control Panel).
